Six arms / one continuous simulation
Squiggle shape experiment.
Divide a pendulum trail into consecutive symbols and see when shapes resemble earlier ones.
Choose a start time and duration, then run.
What does correlation mean here?
Each segment is centred and scaled uniformly to the same square, preserving its aspect ratio and orientation. We compare 64 × 64 ink images with a small fixed blur: dot product divided by both ink magnitudes. White background does not count. 1 means identical ink; 0 means no overlap. Dense shapes can have a substantial baseline overlap.
Drawing speed and order are ignored; rotations, reflections and timing offsets are not searched. Every successive symbol is retained. Start and duration are rounded to the nearest simulation step (1/192 second).
Correlation as symbols arrive
Comparison depth: 16 symbols — each new shape against the previous 15. Horizontal: newest symbol number. Vertical: ink correlation, 0–1. Toggle curves below.
Latest symbol versus the previous 15 symbols
Horizontal: symbols back, 1–15 (1 is the preceding symbol). Vertical: ink correlation, 0–1.
